Overview

Solana Ranch Preschool is part of the Solana Beach Child Development Center operated by the Solana Beach School District. The center provides preschool services at Solana Ranch School for preschool-age children.

Approach and curriculum

The program’s curriculum is grounded in developmentally appropriate practice and aims to support social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, along with creative expression through art and music. Pre-K classrooms use the "Ready to Advance" curriculum and Second Step to guide instruction. Daily schedules of activities are posted in each classroom.

Enrollment, health and safety

Enrollment requires completed registration forms, a current California immunization card, and a completed physician’s report.
The Preschool Program accepts children from 3 years through 5 years of age.
Illness and exclusion policies specify conditions for temporary exclusion (for example fever, vomiting, contagious infections, lice) and require children to be fever-free for 24 hours before returning.
Medication will be administered only with written physician and parent authorization and must be provided in the original container.
The program is a nut-free campus; staff are trained in first aid, CPR and use of an Epi-Pen; monthly fire drills and periodic disaster drills are held, and a district disaster plan with emergency supplies is maintained.
