Martin Child Development Center is the early childhood program located on the Martin Elementary School campus in South San Francisco. It provides preschool/TK‑level education and coordinates early learning supports and family resources on the Martin campus.
Martin Child Development Center is the school-based early childhood program housed at Martin Elementary School. The program serves young children on the Martin campus and connects families to the district’s Transitional Kindergarten (TK) pathway and other elementary-level supports.
Early learning at the site follows district-adopted curricula and assessments for young learners. Transitional Kindergarten instruction uses the district’s selected early-literacy materials (World of Wonders) and is supported by the district’s English Language Development and benchmark assessment practices described for elementary grades.
Students can participate in the AAA School Safety Patrol to help keep the school community safe while developing leadership skills.
Before‑ and after‑school care for Martin students is provided through community partners: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (Grades 1–5) and the City of South San Francisco REAL Program (Grades K–5).
Starting in fifth grade, students at Martin can join the elementary band program to learn instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or baritone horn; lessons take place at each school twice a week.
Gene Academy provides students with hands-on learning experiences and exposure to real-world science and technology.
The PAX program supports social-emotional learning and positive behavior in the classroom, helping students build focus, cooperation, and self-regulation skills.
