St. John'S Children Center

Overview

St. John's Children's Center is a faith-based early childhood program serving families with children from 12 months through pre-kindergarten. The centre emphasizes spiritual growth alongside developmental and pre-academic skills.

Curriculum and approach

The program uses a child-centered, developmentally appropriate approach and lists adopted curricula and assessment tools including a faith-based curriculum, Core Knowledge for academics, Handwriting Without Tears for writing, and the Desired Results Developmental Profile for assessments. Classroom methods include play, small- and large-group activities, literacy and mathematical explorations, art projects, learning centers and dramatic play.

Facilities, staffing and professional development

The campus includes a designated Children's Center within a larger church/school complex and a published campus map identifying campus buildings and facilities.
The centre closes periodically for staff professional development and cites ongoing training for teachers.

Meals and health

The centre provides morning and afternoon snacks and operates a peanut-free campus to reduce the risk to students with nut allergies.
