St. John'S Children Center

Overview

St. John’s Children’s Center is a Christian early childhood center serving children from 12 months through pre-kindergarten. The centre is located on the St. John’s campus and welcomes families to tour the facility.

Curriculum and approach

The programme uses a child-centered, developmentally appropriate approach that emphasizes play and a variety of teaching techniques. Core instructional tools listed by the centre include One in Christ (faith-based), Core Knowledge (academic/developmental), Handwriting Without Tears (writing), and the Desired Results Development Profile (assessments).

Meals and health policies

Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. The centre operates a peanut-free campus and requests that parents not pack peanut or nut products for students with allergies.

Licensing and staff development

The centre operates in harmony with the State Department of Social Services, Community Licensing Division. The centre schedules professional development days for staff training and closes for a two-week period in July for building maintenance and staff training.
