Overview

St. Michael's Children’s Center operates as an outreach ministry of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and provides year‑round early care and education for children from six weeks up to five years. The program is open to families regardless of race, gender, or religion.

Curriculum & activities

The program uses a hands‑on, experiential approach that emphasizes social, emotional, self‑help and independence skills. Learning opportunities are offered across areas including science, nature, math, cooking, music, literature, creative media and dramatic play. Weekly chapel time is held in the church and the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) is used periodically to monitor development.

Licensed with the California Department of Social Services; listed license numbers: 197408458 (Preschool) & 197408459 (Infant).
Admissions and registration: accepts children from six weeks to five years; registration requires forms and physician immunization information before attendance.
Snacks & lunches: two snacks are provided daily; the center maintains a peanut‑free food policy and gives guidance on packed lunches (no heating or refrigeration provided).
Health, illness & medicine: the center follows specific illness exclusion and return‑to‑school rules (including a 24‑hour fever/vomiting/diarrhea rule) and requires physician permission and paperwork for administering medications; Tylenol and other pain‑relievers are not administered.
Sign‑in/out and pick‑up: the center uses a digital check‑in/out system (Brightwheel) and requires authorized pick‑up procedures; a late pick‑up fee is applied when applicable.
Field trips are limited to short walking trips within a four‑block perimeter; bus or car trips are not used.
