The Chapel School is a non-denominational preschool located in downtown Methuen that offers early childhood education for children roughly from age 2.9 through 5 years.
The Chapel School operates inside the First Church Congregational in downtown Methuen and provides preschool education for young children. The program emphasizes developmental learning across social, emotional, physical and intellectual domains.
Instruction is centered on developmental, play-based learning with a focus on communication, creative development, social skills, self-help skills, mathematical and scientific thinking, literacy and the creative arts. Classrooms are designed to give children access to materials and activities such as building blocks, props for pretend play, picture books, art supplies and table toys, and children spend substantial portions of the day engaged in hands-on projects and free play.
Classrooms display children’s original artwork and writing. Outdoor play is provided daily. The school maintains a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 10:1 and offers both full- and half-day class formats with optional early drop-off and extended-day arrangements.

Lunch Bunch is an extended-day option in which children bring their own lunch, participate in organized activities or play with peers, and attend on flexible days selected by parents.
The PreK program is intended for children who miss the Kindergarten cut-off in Methuen (born September–December) and focuses on socialization and foundational skills for kindergarten with emphasis on social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
The preschool curriculum focuses on integrating social, emotional, physical and intellectual development into a fun and hands-on creative program; teachers help each child develop a positive self-image, make friends and learn sensitivity to others.
