The Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute is a licensed early childhood program accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Institute serves children from infancy through age five and operates year-round on weekdays as part of the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center.
The program emphasizes social, emotional and cognitive development through developmentally appropriate, hands-on and integrated learning activities. Daily group activities include Center time—where children choose from learning areas such as blocks, art, science, dramatic play, music and movement—and Circle time for shared reading, songs and group discussion.
Facilities include indoor play space and an enclosed outdoor playground; classes also take supervised walks on Hofstra’s campus. Visitors are admitted through a double-locked entry and must sign in at the front desk. All child-care staff are subject to comprehensive New York State background checks as described in state and federal requirements.
In the infant room, babies eat and sleep on their own schedules and have a dedicated play area and toys.
An on-site pre-K classroom is provided as part of the Institute’s early childhood offerings.
The program offers developmentally appropriate activities intended to build social, emotional and cognitive skills through hands-on, integrated learning and teacher-led Center and Circle time.
