The Giving Tree, Early Learning Center

Overview

The Giving Tree Early Learning Center is an early childhood program in Forest Park that enrolls children from 6 weeks up to 6 years. The centre operates a full‑day, year‑round schedule and provides a full summer program; transportation to local Forest Park schools is available.

Curriculum and learning approach

Instruction is based on developmental interactionism and individualized lesson planning. Teachers create monthly thematic units that incorporate children’s goals, use phonics and whole‑language approaches for early reading, and maintain portfolios and year‑round assessments for each child.

Facilities, routines and staff

Separate classrooms by age: infant, toddler, preschool and pre‑K.
Meals are provided on site (breakfast, lunch and snacks) and comply with Illinois requirements for balanced meals.
Daily communication includes journals and daily sheets summarizing meals, naps, diapering and activities.
Staff training and safety: teachers receive ongoing early‑childhood training, First Aid and CPR training, and background checks consistent with state regulations; the centre maintains emergency plans and classroom emergency bags.
Caregiver‑to‑child ratios follow Illinois guidelines (infants, toddlers, preschool and pre‑K ratios as stated by the centre).
