Overview

The Lutheran Day Nursery of Chicago is an early childhood center serving children ages 2–5 and providing afterschool care for children up to age 12. The center runs a full-day PreK-2 through PreK-4 program and a seasonal summer camp.

Programs and schedule

Full-day PreK-2 through PreK-4 program for preschool-aged children.
Extended Care: afterschool program for children ages 2–12, with afterschool care available until 6pm.
Paradise Summer Camp for children ages 5–10.

Curriculum and family involvement

Instruction combines play-based learning with Spanish integrated throughout the program. Class sizes are kept small with a stated 1:10 teacher-to-student ratio. The center offers parent seminars, family events and regular communication between teachers and families.

Facilities, meals and admissions

Classrooms have access to technology and internet. Nutritious meals and snacks are prepared by licensed cooks. Admissions materials include a parent handbook and an orientation; listed application requirements include a child’s birth certificate, a prior-year tax return for fee determination, a non-refundable registration fee, and payment for the first week.
