Topanga Montessori Preschool

Overview

Topanga Montessori Preschool provides early childhood education using Montessori principles in a prepared environment designed to support independence, concentration, and exploration.

Approach and curriculum

The program follows the Montessori approach with classroom areas for practical life, sensorial, language, math, cultural studies and art. Classroom guides are trained in the Montessori method and the daily plan includes a mix of child-initiated and staff-initiated activities as well as active and quiet times.

Large, light-filled, child-friendly classrooms
Children's garden and large playground with climbing structures, swings, covered sandbox, water features and fruit trees
Library with children's and parenting materials
Large room for indoor play, dance and parent programs
Snacks are provided, including fresh fruit and/or vegetables; rice milk and water are available

Staff and daily routine

Staff are described as trained in the Montessori method and focused on creating respectful, engaging classroom environments. Outdoor (weather permitting) or indoor gym play is scheduled each day.
