T.U.S.D.#1 - Wright Preschool Program

Overview

The Wright preschool program is an inclusive early-learning offering located on the John B. Wright Elementary School campus. The program is part of the Tucson Unified School District and is delivered alongside the school's K–6 operations.

Curriculum and approach

The program implements the ASU-developed TELL curriculum to support language, literacy and school readiness. The school also uses AVID strategies districtwide and integrates arts into classroom instruction through the OMA (Opening Minds through the Arts) approach; the campus emphasizes STEM across subjects.

Family supports and services

Campus-level supports include free breakfast and lunch for students and an on-site family resource/food pantry.
The campus maintains garden-based learning and two standalone computer labs for student use.
Before- and after-school childcare is available through the district’s extended-care arrangements, with transportation to a nearby hub site and a range of activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, field trips, games, homework help and outdoor play.
