Undermountain Child Care

Overview

Undermountain Child Care provides full‑ and part‑time child care on the Berkshire School campus during the academic year. The program operates for 39 weeks (noted for the 2025–2026 school year) and serves children from infancy through five years of age. The program recommends a minimum attendance of three days per week.

Curriculum and daily routine

The program’s goals and curriculum are intended to support children’s emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. Daily schedules are described as predictable yet flexible and responsive to individual children, with time for transitions, indoor and outdoor activities, and rest or active play as needed. Teaching and assessment are used to support individualized learning and to reflect family home values and experiences.

Classrooms and learning environment

Infant and toddler classrooms are organized as small, consistent groups with individualized schedules and emphasis on primary caregiver relationships and age‑appropriate motor and sensory development.
The preschool classroom is described as a language‑rich environment with defined activity areas that combine play with learning, including dramatic play, table toys, art, reading, music and movement, and cooking; project work and temporary learning setups are also part of the classroom approach.
