Val Vista Academy

Overview

Val Vista Academy is a tuition-free K–8 charter school in Gilbert that is part of the Arizona Ball Charter Schools network. The school provides a K–8 instructional program aligned to the Arizona Academic Content Standards.

Curriculum and instruction

The school emphasizes reading, writing, and mathematics and integrates those subjects into social studies, science, and other areas. Instructional methods include whole-group and small-group instruction, differentiated and ability-grouped literacy supports, hands-on learning, cooperative projects, and use of adaptive digital tools and regular formative and benchmark assessments to guide instruction.

Student support and family involvement

Multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and special education services are available, with eligibility and services provided in accordance with IDEA and state requirements.
Section 504 protections and grievance procedures are described for students with disabilities.
Parents are encouraged to engage through volunteering and a Site Council; volunteers must complete a background check and a volunteer application as required by the charter network.
