Overview

Webster Pcceo Headstart Center is one of PCCEO’s Head Start locations serving children and families in Peoria. The center is part of PCCEO’s network of early childhood programs that provide educational and family-support services.

Curriculum and classroom program

The program follows a developmentally appropriate early childhood model with learning goals in language and literacy, physical development, cognitive development, and social-emotional development. Classrooms are staffed by an early childhood teacher and an assistant and are arranged into learning centers such as blocks, dramatic play, science and discovery, creative art, math, manipulatives, computer, and language and literacy. Daily schedules balance teacher-directed and child-initiated activities.

Family, health and developmental services

Children are screened shortly after enrollment and assessed periodically using classroom observations and portfolios to track progress.
Program services include health and wellness monitoring, family literacy and parenting education, nutrition education, service coordination and case management, and individualized family service plans.
Services are delivered in collaboration with community partners and are designed to support both child development and family needs.
