Overview

Wellshire PDO operates as a parents-day-out program during the school year (September through May) and runs Monday through Friday from 9:25 AM to 1:30 PM. The program is located on the west side of the Wellshire Presbyterian Church building and is licensed by the State of Colorado under the Department of Early Childhood.

Approach and daily routine

Daily activities follow monthly themes and include free play, music, stories, large-group (big room) time, and outdoor playground time. Parents supply snack and lunch for children, and children return home for naps or rest at the end of the day.

Staffing and licensing

Classes are licensed for specific age groups, ratios and capacities.
Classroom teachers are required to have background checks and fingerprint checks prior to working in the program.
Teachers are trained in CPR, First Aid, and medication administration; the site notes relatively low teacher turnover and that many teachers have multi-year tenures.

Bunny Class

19 months – 24 months. 8 Children with 2 Teachers. May attend 1, 2 or 3 days within the Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday/Friday cohorts.

Croc Class

PDO’s Preschool Class, 3 years – 5 years. 14 Children with 2 Teachers. Current PDO children may attend 1-5 days per week; children new to PDO may attend 1-3 days per week.

Dolphin Class

PDO’s Young Preschool Class, 2.5 years – 3.5 years. 12 Children with 2 Teachers. Current PDO children may attend 1-4 days per week; children new to PDO may attend 1-3 days per week.

Puppy Class

25 months - 2.5 years. 10 Children with 2 Teachers. May attend 1-3 days per week.
