Wild Child CC

Overview

Wild Child CC is a play-based, nature-focused child care and preschool serving children from birth through pre‑kindergarten. The program combines indoor and outdoor learning spaces and uses multi-age groupings.

Approach & curriculum

The program uses a nature-based, play- and experience-focused approach and maintains an internally written curriculum framework that covers math, science, language, art, and social‑emotional learning. Daily activities include hands-on science, gardening, creative art, nature journaling, and sensory exploration.

Facilities & outdoor learning

Renovated indoor classrooms furnished for specific age groups.
Outdoor classrooms and daily outdoor/free-range play, including water, sand and mud play.
On-site gardening and daily interactions with small animals (butterflies, bees, fish, aquatic frogs) as part of outdoor learning.
Field trips to local trails, beaches, preserves and bays are part of the program.

Family supports & staffing

Multi-age classrooms and stated low child-to-teacher ratios.
Positions and job descriptions indicate staff with backgrounds or coursework in early childhood education, experience with outdoor/nature-based learning, and certifications such as CPR/First Aid are sought.
The program provides two daily snacks and uses non-toxic cleaning products (Branch Basics) in the facility.
