Wright Start Preschool

Overview

Wright Start Preschool (Wright City Early Childhood Center) provides preschool instruction for 3- and 4-year-old children in an inclusive setting where children with disabilities participate alongside typically developing peers. The program emphasizes readiness for kindergarten and age-appropriate developmental learning.

Programs and services

The center operates integrated preschool classrooms and offers services for children who require therapy or special education supports; eligibility and service needs are determined through team evaluation. Typically developing peers are invited to attend part-time classes.

Schedule and class options

AM half-day session: 8:20–11:20 (doors open 8:10) — no class on Mondays
PM half-day session: 12:00–3:00 (doors open 11:55) — no class on Mondays
MOQPK full-day class (five days a week for qualifying four-year-olds): 8:45–3:30 (doors open 8:45)
Full-day transitional class: 8:20–3:00 (doors open 8:10) — no class on Mondays

Enrollment and screening

Typically developing peers may be placed from a waitlist; placement is determined by screening scores administered by Parents as Teachers educators. Mass screenings are normally held in the fall and spring, and families participating in Parents as Teachers may receive screening at home.
