Ymca Early Learning Center--Arcadia Campus

Overview

Y-Academy @ Arcadia is an early learning center housed inside the Hospice of the Valley facility in Phoenix. The center supports children aged 1–5 and operates as one of the Y-Academy locations serving families across the valley.

Curriculum and programs

The center uses a play-based, developmentally focused curriculum that emphasizes social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Classroom groupings named on site include:

Discoverers — a classroom for one-year-olds that provides a structured day focused on learning through play.
Explorers — a classroom for two-year-olds with activities that support language and early concepts in math, science and the arts.
Innovators — a three-year-old preschool classroom that uses circle time, themed learning centers and routines to develop social, motor and cognitive skills.
Scholars — a program for four- to five-year-olds focused on preparing children for the transition to kindergarten through structured play, group activities, music and art.
Y-Ready — a part-day, academically focused enrichment option for 3- to 5-year-olds that centers on kindergarten readiness and teacher-led activities using the Creative Curriculum model.

Intergenerational activities and staffing

The Arcadia location runs an intergenerational program in partnership with Hospice of the Valley, arranging daily guided activities between children and residents in the neighboring dementia care day program. The center also highlights a team of qualified teachers and structured classroom routines intended to support children’s development.
